The NPTA's Accreditation scheme is an optional extra that business members can apply for and join when they believe it will help and assist their business. However, a key element is that continuous membership of the Association has to take place.
The history behind the need for our Accreditation is that members from time to time in the late nineteen-nineties (1990’s) were being asked for a measure of their ability and professionalism from several of the major supermarket chains. These large supermarkets along with other players in the UK food industry were all looking for "suitable benchmarks", "performance standards" and "critical control points" that can be measured. We believe these can be answered by members presenting their NPTA Accreditation Registration Certificate.

Registration is a unique document based upon facts and details already made available when applying for ordinary membership (Insurance matters and Education and training qualifications) plus certain specific matters relating to legal requirements (for example the Health & Safety at Work Act and its Codes of Practice and Regulations), plus extra information about health matters and compliance with the Association’s Code of Practice. The majority of these legal requirements are only obtainable by a visit to the business itself by a suitably trained Auditor.

For the scale of charges please contact the office.
Once the application form has been received and accepted, an auditor will be appointed to visit the business. Whilst this fee is non-returnable it should be appreciated that Accreditation lasts for a period of three years with a re-accreditation taking place towards the end of the third year. Annually a national register of Accredited Members will be published and made available to interested clients.

A scheme known as the Professional Pest Technicians Registration Scheme (PPTRS) allows Pest Control Technicians (PCT) with specified and approved levels of training to hold a special registration. This registration also shows directly that a PCT has achieved these standards in the form of an identity card complete with photograph, whilst on the reverse are shown certain other complimentary training awards such as in food hygiene. The card the size of a standard credit/debit card is electronically scanned holding the qualifications within a microchip.

Because of the obvious advantages shown the NPTA has formally backed the PPTRS from day one and been a part of the Advisory Committee setting the standards behind this unique individual Pest Technician scheme.

Launched at PestTech 1999 at our annual exhibition it has gone from strength to strength and a recent comment from DATAS Associates, who are administrating the scheme, says, "The success of the scheme is already having an impact upon training provision throughout the industry. As an example, ADAS has successfully applied to have its modular pest control training course recognised by the scheme

Security is important to your clients... it should be to you too

As security on entering many work sites today is uppermost in many people's eyes and minds, why not take advantage and purchase an NPTA Photo ID card so that both you and your staff have visual evidence to show both security at any Reception and clients before entering their homes. For a nominal fee plus either a passport size photograph or a digital image, we can provide such a document. Please see the example below.

Raising the profile

The NPTA aim to promote the industry, its members, and to liaise with other organisations, associations and government bodies in order to raise the profile of professional pest control, and ensure that technicians have a voice within the industry. Everyday the Association helps its members to overcome problems and puts them forward for jobs and contracts that come through to the office.

Can you really afford not to be part of it?

How to Join the NPTA

There are several categories of membership of the NPTA, listed on the Membership Benefits page, however, if you are unsure as to which category you should subscribe to, then please contact the Association office. If you know which category you match, then why not download the appropriate form from the Technical & Documents page, complete it and post it off to us right away.

Becoming a member of the National Pest Technician's Association (NPTA) entitles you to many benefits, both "invisible" and "direct" that are available to you. In an Association of like-minded pest control technicians, it provides a forum where people can meet each other and exchange views and opinions, it can give access to information to further your development in professional and technical knowledge.

Membership of the NPTA offers a wide range of opportunities, but as with any organisation, the more the members are prepared to put into the Association, then the more the Association will be able to offer the membership and the Pest Control industry as a whole.

Membership also allows you to take advantage of our specially arranged NPTA Insurance Scheme at highly competitive rates and also a Legal Advice Service.
All members have access to a range of documents and information sheets including specimen job contracts and report sheets. Other documents are being developed to help you, the pest technician to present a professional image.

The National Pest Technicians Association offers such a wide variety of benefits that the table below is just a brief summary. Join us and find out what we can do for you.
