John will be discussing all those itches, shocks and imaginary bites for which arthropods are not responsible. It can sometimes be difficult to persuade sufferers that what they are experiencing is not a nasty biting bug, but the reaction to a chemical, or electricity, or is even just all in the mind.

Pheromones and other semiochemicals have been around now for over 50 years and they have been introduced and  exploited successfully in many market sectors such as agriculture, horticulture and forestry. Their use in Industrial pest management and public health has also been achieved to some extent although maybe not as much as in other market sectors. This talk will highlight where pheromones have been successfully employed in the built environment and public health, and details some of the more recent innovations that should allow for their greater use in the future.

The Red Tractor Assurance Scheme enables farmers to demonstrate conformance to food safety, animal welfare, hygiene and environmental protection. Effective pest management, which can be challenging on farms, is an important component of ensuring food safety. Kate Cross from Red Tractor will join us at PestTech to present the standards expected of pest management contracts and activities on farms, and to answer questions you may have on how to help your clients achieve compliance with the standards. 

Lulu will be walking us through the five steps to successful  marketing to transform us from marketing mayhem to being bold branded businesses. While challenging some common myths and mishaps she will also be sharing her own tips, techniques and cost effective marketing solutions. All delivered with a big dollop of common sense and a side helping of humour. 

Ana and  Matthew  discuss original PhD research on the role of rats and mice in the dissemination of pathogens and antimicrobial resistance. Ana is dedicated to advancing knowledge with a specific emphasis on working with rodent diseases and their implications for public health. The research aims to enhance disease understanding, ultimately contributing to improved health outcomes for both animals and humans.
