January: Building Momentum for the Year Ahead
Firstly, I want to say I hope you all have had a good Christmas and New year and that 2026 is a prosperous year for not only NPTA members, but the entire Pest Control Community.
You really get a sense that in the past 12 months, things have changed and something big is happening.
Last year for ourselves was huge, we made great progress as an association, and we intend to continue this journey in 2026.
The first three months of 2026 represent an important period for the NPTA, we have so much lined up that sets the scene for the rest of 2026.
Our Plan for the first quarter of 2026 is to focus on delivering programmes of activity that supports members, strengthens standards, and invests in the future of the pest control industry.
This period is about progress, preparation, positioning and finishing the membership year strongly while laying firm foundations for the future.
January: Working with the DWP on recruitment
We start the year with a series of January webinars delivered in collaboration with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
These sessions are designed to:
- Highlight pest control as a skilled and professional career
- Help members understand how DWP programmes can support recruitment
- Encourage new entrants into the industry
Alongside these webinars, the NPTA is also working with the DWP on the development of a wider recruitment scheme, aimed at supporting the pest control industry as a whole. This work focuses on creating sustainable talent pathways that benefit businesses of all sizes.
February/ March: Raising awareness with CTP
Between February and March, the NPTA will be delivering events in partnership with CTP (Careers Transition Partnership), focused on raising awareness of the pest control industry and the opportunities it offers, much like the above.
These activities align closely with the NPTA’s wider careers and workforce development strategy, in helping members and the industry to find talent that is the future of Pest Control.
Launching the NPTA Careers Hub
During the January to March period, the NPTA will launch its Careers Hub, a dedicated online platform designed to support:
- Individuals exploring pest control as a career
- Career changers looking for a professional, practical industry
- Member businesses seeking to attract and develop new talent
The Careers Hub will bring together clear career pathways, guidance, real-world stories and access points into training and employment, supporting both individuals and employers.
TrustMark Scheme approval
A significant milestone during this period will hopefully be the formal approval of the NPTA as a TrustMark Scheme Provider.
This achievement reflects extensive work to meet TrustMark’s governance, audit and consumer protection requirements and reinforces the NPTA’s commitment to quality, professionalism and public trust.
Members will receive clear communication explaining what this means, how it applies to pest control, and how they can engage with TrustMark through the NPTA.
Leadership updates: New Chairperson and Vice Chairperson
Between January and March, the NPTA will also confirm the appointment of a New Chairperson and Vice Chairperson
These leadership appointments support the continued development of the association, ensuring strong governance, clear direction and effective representation for members as the NPTA moves forward.
Strengthening Accredited Membership
During this period, NPTA Accredited audits will be aligned with BS EN 16636, ensuring accredited members are assessed against recognised service standards.
This alignment supports:
- Consistency and professionalism
- Increased confidence for clients and stakeholders
- Greater value for accredited members operating in regulated and commercial environments
Finishing the membership year strong
January to March is about more than launching initiatives, it is about finishing the membership year with momentum and clarity.
The work delivered during this period strengthens the NPTA’s role as a champion for pest controllers, supports member businesses today, and ensures we are well-positioned as we move into 2026/27.
As always, members remain at the heart of everything we do, and we look forward to building on this progress together.
