January 2026: A major milestone for the NPTA
January 2026 marks a significant moment for the NPTA, as we are formally signed off as a TrustMark Scheme Provider.
This achievement follows months of detailed work with the TrustMark team, ensuring that the NPTA meets the required standards, governance, audit processes and consumer protection framework expected of a TrustMark scheme.
Becoming a Scheme Provider reinforces the NPTA’s commitment to raising standards, supporting professional pest controllers, and strengthening trust between the industry and the public.
What this means for NPTA members
Initially, TrustMark will be available to all existing NPTA members on an opt-in basis.
This phased approach allows members to:
- Understand what TrustMark is and how it applies to pest control
- Decide whether TrustMark registration is right for their business
- Prepare for any additional requirements in a clear, supported way
No member will be automatically enrolled without communication or choice.
February member communications
In February, the NPTA will be communicating directly with all members to clearly explain:
- What TrustMark is
- What it means to be TrustMark registered
- How it fits alongside NPTA membership
- The practical and commercial benefits for pest control businesses
- How members can opt in, and what the process looks like
This communication will be focused on clarity, reassurance and value, ensuring members fully understand how TrustMark supports their business rather than adding unnecessary burden.
Why TrustMark matters
TrustMark is the UK Government-endorsed quality scheme for trades working in and around the home. Becoming a Scheme Provider positions the NPTA as a recognised route to:
- Increased consumer confidence
- Stronger professional credibility
- Clear standards and accountability
- Better recognition of quality pest control businesses
Most importantly, it supports the NPTA’s wider mission to champion pest controllers, raise industry standards, and protect both members and the public.
