The Future of the NPTA

The NPTA exists to champion pest controllers and pest control businesses, supporting professional growth, raising standards and helping to build a stronger, more recognised profession.

Over the past 12 months, our focus has been on strengthening the foundations of the association so we are well positioned for the future. As a not-for-profit organisation, every decision we take is guided by our purpose – to provide practical support, professional recognition and opportunities that help members develop their skills and grow their businesses.

A key priority has been future-proofing the NPTA. Investment in upgraded IT systems and our website will allow us to improve efficiency, simplify processes and better manage future costs. While much of this work takes place behind the scenes, it creates the capacity for us to deliver more value to members in a sustainable way as the association continues to grow.

We are building an organisation that genuinely represents pest controllers, understands the challenges faced by businesses and works constructively with industry partners to influence positive change.

The progress made so far is encouraging. Membership has grown by 15 percent, engagement at our On The Road events has increased by more than 20 percent, and the feedback we receive confirms that members can see the positive direction of travel.

Building Value for Members

We will continue to strengthen the value of NPTA membership, ensuring it delivers practical support that helps businesses grow, improve professionalism and operate with confidence.

Through an expanding range of benefits, partnerships and opportunities, we are ensuring membership provides clear advantages for both technicians and business owners. Initiatives such as TrustMark and WRM help strengthen credibility, support compliance and demonstrate commitment to recognised professional standards.

Our aim is for NPTA membership to be seen as a valuable investment that supports business development, professional pride and long-term success.

Raising Standards Through Training

Professional development will remain central to the NPTA’s future. We will continue expanding access to relevant, practical and high-quality training that supports technicians at every stage of their career.

Plans to introduce a third Technical Manager will increase our ability to deliver training and technical guidance across the country, ensuring members have greater access to support when they need it.

Our accredited membership will also continue to evolve, providing clear and credible recognition of professionalism for both individuals and businesses.

Championing the Industry

The NPTA will continue to represent the interests of pest controllers and businesses by contributing constructively to discussions that shape the future of the industry.

By working with key organisations and stakeholders, we can help ensure professional standards, qualifications and guidance reflect the real needs of those working in the sector.

Our ambition is to ensure the NPTA continues to grow as a trusted and influential voice for pest control.

Supporting the Next Generation

Attracting new people into the profession is essential to the long-term future of the industry. Through initiatives such as the Careers Hub, the 5<25 programme and our engagement with the Department for Work and Pensions, we are helping to raise awareness of pest control as a skilled and rewarding career.

We will also continue to develop initiatives such as On The Road events, technical meetings and wider engagement opportunities that encourage collaboration, shared learning and stronger professional networks across the sector.

Looking Ahead

Everything we are building is designed to support members not only today, but in the years ahead.

By continuing to strengthen our foundations, we are ensuring the NPTA is well positioned to:

  • champion pest controllers and pest control businesses
  • support sustainable business growth
  • provide credible professional recognition
  • raise standards across the industry
  • promote pest control as a skilled and respected profession
  • listen to members and ensure their views help shape future priorities

The direction is clear. By staying focused on our purpose and guided by the needs of our members, we will continue building an association that supports professional pride, business success and a stronger future for the industry.
