OBITUARY – RON BROOKS

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Ron Brooks, who passed away on 13 July 2026.

Ron was one of the four founding members of the NPTA. He served as Treasurer in the early years of the Association before stepping down to focus on developing his own business, whilst remaining a loyal and dedicated member throughout his life.

Ron started his pest control career at Bingham Rural District Council in 1974, prior to its amalgamation with Rushcliffe Borough Council. He remained there until 1999 when redundancy provided the opportunity to establish his own business, R.B. Pest Control. The business will continue under the ownership of his son, Darcy.

Away from work, Ron enjoyed gardening, fishing and shooting, hobbies that brought him great pleasure throughout his life.

Reflecting on Ron’s contribution, fellow founding member John Davison said:

“Ron was there from the very beginning of the NPTA and played an important role in helping to establish the Association. He was a true professional who always had the best interests of the industry at heart. His friendship, support and dedication over the years will be greatly missed.”

Fellow founding member Paul Burton added:

“Ron was one of the people who helped shape the NPTA into what it is today. He was respected by colleagues across the industry and never lost his passion for pest control or his commitment to the Association. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.”

Ron leaves behind a lasting legacy within both the NPTA and the wider pest management community.
