Celebrating the UK’s Professional Pest Control Industry
After a record number of entries, the judging panel has deliberated and it’s now all systems go for this year’s National Pest Awards, says Simon King, editor of Pest magazine.
The countdown is on to this year’s National Pest Awards, following yet another record-breaking year for entries. I cannot wait to meet you all at Plaisterers’ Hall in London, for the culmination of the 2026 awards programme. The National Pest Awards 2026 is taking place on Wednesday, September 9, and there is still time to secure your tickets to attend.
Now in its sixth year, the National Pest Awards give our fantastic industry a chance to get together to recognise the achievements and work of pest controllers from across the UK.
As the toolbox continues to be threatened, it’s great that the industry can come together, despite the challenges that face businesses of every size.
Despite the challenges – and I’ve spoken to all of the finalists ahead of the gala dinner –it’s great to see businesses of all sizes thriving. It was good to hear that a number of small businesses have some impressive growth plans.
The National Pest Awards is, organised by Pest, and we are proud to be supported by the National Pest Technicians Association (NPTA) as we aim to recognise and reward the best in the industry.
In addition to the business categories, we have awards that recognise the achievements of individuals – the Unsung Hero, Young Pest Controller and Pest Controller of the Year. It’s people that make the difference in the professional pest control industry.
This year’s finalists have risen to that challenge and there are many inspiring stories that you’ll be able to read in coming issues of Pest.
As a judge myself, I’m pleased to report that, once again, the standard of entries was very high and the care and attention that went into them was impressive.
It’s also great to see that businesses are being open in their recruitment. However, there is more that all companies can do to be more open and welcoming.
In addition to the 10 categories that are outlined in this supplement, there are also two other awards that will be presented at the awards dinner.
The Pest Business of the Year Award, sponsored by Syngenta, will be chosen from the winners of the Large Company, Small Company, Local Authority and Sole Trader of the Year. We will also be presenting a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Meet this year’s host
Award-winning stand-up comedian Dinesh Nathan will host this year’s National Pest Awards. After winning several open mic talent shows, Dinesh won South Coast Comedian of the Year and was a finalist at the Komedia New Act competition and the coveted Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year competition.
In 2022, Dinesh appeared on BBC 3’s New Comedian of the Year awards and Comedy Central Live. As a stand-up, Dinesh is known for his mix of high-spirited delivery and sarcastic, self-deprecating viewpoint.
