Defender Jaws® rides into PestTech 2026
Who is Defender®?
Defender® Bird Spikes is a family business founded and run by David and Kursty Jones in beautiful Devon. For nearly 30 years, we have proudly invented, patented, and manufactured a humane range of bird proofing products designed to keep birds off properties without harming them. We have always enjoyed finding practical ways to make bird proofing easier for the people installing it. Our exciting newest addition to the Defender® family is the Defender Jaws® solar panel pigeon excluder range and bracket guards and David, Kursty, Holly and Haydon want to tell you all about it!
Meet Defender Jaws®
Defender Jaws® is a game changer in the world of solar panel pigeon proofing. It’s moulded in one piece from UV stabilised black polycarbonate. On either side are 2 Jaws® (patent pending), lined with teeth that lock onto the edge of a solar panel frame. The strip is reversible, so one strip fits both 30 mm and 35 mm frames. There are no clips or glue to worry about, making installation quick and straightforward.
We now also offer a Defender Jaws® strip for 40 mm solar panel frames, for those larger, older panels. This one has Jaws® on one side and is blank on the other giving installers another option for older arrays while keeping the finished job neat and discreet. We haven’t forgotten the mounting rails either with handy reversible, lock-on bracket guards that neatly close the gaps under these spurs.

The best way to understand Jaws® is to try it. We are bringing solar panels to PestTech so you can have a go at fitting Defender Jaws® and the bracket guards. Pick up a strip, lock it onto the frame and feel how easily and securely the Jaws® bite. It is the best way to see why Jaws® can save installers time, even giving them time to have lunch – wonders never cease!
Take on the Jaws® Rodeo
Defender® is bringing its usual unorthodox style to PestTech. We are never quite content with simply showing you a product. We always want to add a little extra va va voom, and this year we may have taken that further than ever.
Roll up for the Jaws® Rodeo! Climb aboard Jaws® and hold on tight as it tries to throw you off. Every second counts towards the leaderboard, and the person who stays on longest will take home the prestigious Jaws® Rider of the Year trophy. Will you reach the top, or become bait before you get there?

What PestTech means to Defender®
PestTech means a great deal to us at Defender beyond the chance to show everyone our fabulous Defender Jaws®! As NPTA members, we feel supported and seen by a team that puts an extraordinary amount of work into making the day feel welcoming and effortless. It is an important event at bringing together people who care about the industry, giving us the chance to meet customers we usually only speak to on the phone or online, put faces to familiar names, meet new and exciting people, have honest conversations, a proper gossip, a bit of a show-off, and a good laugh. It’s this human side of PestTech that makes it so special, add in the Jaws® Rodeo and we suspect stand D2 will be louder than ever!
