An Update on the Syngenta NPTA 5<25 Professional Futures
Training Initiative For Young Members
NPTA CEO Kevin Lawrenson has delivered an update on our 5<25 Professional Futures programme with Syngenta, revealing the fifth intake of candidates will be announced shortly.
Speaking two weeks ahead of PestTech 2026, Kevin also revealed that 30% of the intake so far features female candidates, representing serious progress considering the industry as a whole is reportedly over 90% male at present.
“We’ve had four intakes already and we’re currently working on the fifth,” he said.
“We have the five candidates and Richard Moseley at Syngenta is currently collating their details. Then we’ll probably look at opening it up again at the back end of this year or early next year.
“We’re really pleased with how it’s going and how it’s been received by the industry. By the end of this intake it will be 25 under 25-year-olds, which is a bit of a milestone itself in that it’s the 5<25 scheme and they’ve gone through the programme and have careers in pest control.”
The Syngenta NPTA 5<25 Professional Futures programme is an exciting new initiative designed to support young professionals entering the pest control industry. In partnership with Syngenta and Killgerm Training, the NPTA is offering a fully funded RSPH Level 2 Award in Pest Management to five NPTA members who employ someone under the age of 25.
This industry-recognised qualification, combined with mentoring, business support, and practical advice, provides a strong foundation for a successful career in pest control.
