CPD – Have you gathered all your points before the end of 2026?

I’ve convinced myself that it’s still summer. I’ve not put the heating on just yet and I’m still wearing shorts outside. But I have bought a couple of early chocolate treats that have a very distinctive Christmas theme, so I thought, aside from planning a couple of Christmas get togethers, what else do I need to complete before year end…….. and then I near panicked…. CPD!!
If you are part of one of the three CRRU UK recognised Continuing Professional Development (CPD) schemes, now is the time to check your points and plan how many more that you need or want before year end. I was proactive in the first third of the year but then I had a small break over summer. As I passed my CRRU UK approved training course more than 5 years ago (30 years ago!) I need a few more points and of course knowledge updates, so I thought that I’d share a few options available from the NPTA if you need to top up.
NPTA Face to Face Courses
I’m a hands on learner so for me my highlight of the year so far was attending the practical drain based rat inspection and prevention course and getting practical tips from Simon. In the same way, helping Leo on the practical bedbug management course is one of the courses that I look forward to. These allow us to share knowledge and experiences too. Online Courses
It has been a busy year for most and attending in person courses can be difficult to fit in.
With the change of the seasons, you may have some extra time for admin and online learning interspersed with this.
There are two main ways to obtain CPD this way. The first is on our website, in the member area where a multitude videos and webinars have been pointed, with more pending. I found the ‘COSHH assessments explained’ useful and I may be biased, but the ‘bird pressure and bird management surveys’ video gives some very useful tips.

H&S E-learning Courses
The free member benefit of the WRM (Workplace Risk Management) website for health and safety has ten videos that are pointed and these are duplicated on the NPTA website. I found the ‘lone worker awareness’ and the ‘introduction to asbestos awareness’ videos beneficial despite having formal training in these areas. The link to the videos:

On The Road Days
We still have a couple of our ‘On The Road Days’ left this year, which will give you 6 points if you can attend. It’s a great way to learn and connect.
CRRU Videos
Finally, don’t forget your three CRRU points/ hours from the videos that can be viewed on our website. The video that I narrated on resistance has some interesting detail that’s often not known. I’d recommend watching this one. The link to the CRRU videos:
