A Year of Transformation: 2025 in Review
As we reach the end of 2025 and look toward a well-earned Christmas break, it’s worth pausing to reflect on just how far the NPTA has come in twelve months. This year has been one of real transformation, rooted in listening to members, modernising how we operate, and strengthening the support we offer across the industry.
At the end of 2024, we recognised the need for change. The NPTA had history, respect, and a loyal membership, but it needed new energy, fresh thinking, and a stronger digital presence to grow and represent the sector effectively. In January, we launched a renewed strategic plan focused on modernisation, growth, and influence and the results have been remarkable.
A Modern, Accessible NPTA
Our redevelopment of www.npta.org.uk has been a major step forward. Members can now apply online, access a redesigned training and CPD hub, explore an expanding range of benefits, and read our newsletter digitally. The consistent new voice and cleaner design have made the website a central point of connection.
Placing Value at the Heart of Membership
This year we introduced a refreshed two-tier membership structure, making benefits clearer and progression more straightforward. In 2025 alone, we launched over 30 new member benefits across HR, recruitment, training, technology, insurance, and health and safety. Each offer was negotiated to deliver real value to your business, not simply add noise.
Membership growth reflects that work. We increased from 1,002 to 1,101 members, reversing years of stagnation. Even more importantly, cancellations fell dramatically — from 65 in 2024 to just 20 this year a 69% improvement that speaks to stronger engagement and higher satisfaction.
Events, Training, and CPD — Reinvented
Our On The Road days saw a 22% increase in attendance, supported by stronger content and a more accessible calendar. CPD delivery has expanded through webinars and recorded sessions, giving every member more ways to learn and develop.
PestTech reached new heights. This year’s event welcomed over 1,400 delegates and 85 exhibitors, earning a 4.55 out of 5 satisfaction rating. Every exhibitor confirmed they would return a powerful endorsement of the event and the team behind it.
The introduction of the PestTech Café, linked to the PestMinds initiative, brought something completely new: a space centred on wellbeing, reflection, and connection. A great feature of the day and we will make it bigger and better for 2026.
Representation and Influence
In 2025, the NPTA strengthened its position as the recognised voice for the sector. We engaged regularly with DEFRA, HSE, and industry partners, and our media presence grew significantly. We appeared in many national papers and The BBC sought our input on pest control and public health, clear evidence of our growing authority and credibility.
Building the Future Workforce
Creating accessible and meaningful routes into the profession has been a big focus this year.
The 5 Under 25 scheme, launched with Syngenta, has already helped young technicians start their careers by removing key financial barriers. We fund core Level 2 training, and employers receive guidance and ongoing support to help these new recruits thrive.
We also recognised the skills and mindset veterans bring to the industry. Through the Career Transition Partnership (CTP), we now offer a structured pathway for service leavers, including a 50% subsidy on the RSPH Level 2 Award.
And in Early 2026 we will launch the Careers in Pest Control Hub with the Royal Society for Public Health, a national platform showcasing career pathways, employer resources, videos, and guidance for new entrants. This will become a cornerstone for promoting pest control as a skilled, rewarding profession.
A Stronger, More Representative Board
To support the Association’s growth, we expanded and strengthened the NPTA Board. Staggered appointments ensured balance and continuity, while clearer roles and accountability drove more effective governance throughout the year.
Growing Impact, Strong Foundations
All of this progress has been delivered within existing budgets, supported by careful cost control and reinvestment from PestTech surpluses. Strategic partnerships and digital efficiencies have ensured that our growth remains sustainable and focused on member value.
In a single year, the NPTA has evolved into a modern, forward-looking association that continues to raise standards, support businesses, and represent the sector with clarity and purpose.
And we are only just getting started.
As we close 2025, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to every one of our members, partners, and supporters. Your engagement, ideas, and encouragement have shaped the direction of the Association and driven the momentum behind this year’s achievements.
Wishing you and your families a magical Christmas and a happy, healthy 2026.
