CSCS Cards for Pest Controllers: A Step-by-Step Guide
We’ve seen a rise in enquiries from members about obtaining a CSCS card for pest control work. To help clarify the process, we’ve been in touch with Jasmine Johnson, Certification and Scheme Officer at BALI, who has provided the following handy guide.
If you or your team need a CSCS card to work on construction sites, and your role involves pesticides or pest control, here’s what you need to know:
Choose the Right Card
There are several types of cards under the Pesticides and Pest Control category. To explore the options and apply, visit: www.bali.org.uk/lisscscs/apply-for-a-smartcard/pesticides-and-pest-control/
Check You Have the Right Qualifications
Each card type has its own qualification requirements. To see what’s needed for your chosen card, head to: www.bali.org.uk/lisscscs/check-qualifications/check-your-qualification/pesticides-and-pest-control-qualifications/ Qualifications are listed under bold headings, and the relevant certifications for each card are listed beneath.
Complete Additional Requirements
In addition to holding the correct qualification, you will also need to:
Complete a ROLO Health, Safety and Environmental Awareness Course. Course listings are available at: www.bali.org.uk/events/training-courses/
Pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment (Touch Screen) Test.
Book your test via: www.citb.co.uk/courses-and-qualifications/health-safety-and-environment-hse-test-and-cards/about-the-health-safety-and-environment-hse-test/
Make sure you book the correct level of test for the card you’re applying for — this is detailed on the first link above.
