Supporting Pest Control Businesses at Every Stage,
The Value of NPTA Membership
The pest control industry has never been more essential. As businesses face increasing expectations around compliance, customer service, training, and professionalism, many are looking for reliable support that helps them stay competitive and confident in a demanding marketplace.
The National Pest Technicians Association (NPTA) continues to be that trusted partner, providing industry-leading guidance, training, and advocacy for pest control businesses across the UK and Ireland.
To support the diverse needs of the sector, the NPTA offers two core membership options: Servicing Membership and Accredited Membership. Both are built around the same principle, ensuring that every pest control business, regardless of size or structure, has access to the tools, expertise, and representation needed to thrive.
Servicing Membership: Practical support for everyday operations
The Servicing Membership has been designed with working pest professionals in mind. Whether an individual technician or a growing business, members can rely on the NPTA for authoritative technical guidance, compliance support, and ongoing professional development.
At the heart of this membership is access to the Workplace Risk Management platform (WRM), a comprehensive health and safety system tailored specifically to the pest control industry. It enables businesses to manage risk assessments, COSHH documentation, staff training, and safety procedures with confidence.
Alongside this, members benefit from the NPTA’s extensive CPD programme, ensuring they can demonstrate competence and maintain professional standards. This includes recognised CPD opportunities through e-learning, expert-led sessions, newsletters, quizzes, training days, and our popular On The Road events.
Members also have direct access to the NPTA Technical Team, who provide practical mentoring on compliance, documentation, pest-specific challenges, and operational improvements. For many small and medium-sized businesses, this one-to-one support is invaluable, offering reassurance and expert insight exactly when it’s needed. In addition, Servicing Members receive help with sales and business operations, including advice on tender responses, customer management, and day-to-day service improvements.
Brand visibility also plays an important role. Servicing Members can use the NPTA Servicing Member logo and appear in the NPTA Member Directory, reinforcing their credibility to customers and the wider industry.
Accredited Membership: A partnership focused on excellence
For businesses committed to achieving and demonstrating the highest standards, the Accredited Membership offers a much deeper, structured level of support. Accreditation with the NPTA is not simply a certificate. It represents a partnership focused on improvement, professional development, and delivering consistent, high-quality service.
A major benefit of Accredited Membership is the inclusion of tailored training days at no additional cost. The number of days provided scales with company size, ensuring that every employee has the opportunity to access high-quality, business-specific training. These sessions, delivered by the NPTA Technical Team, can be held on-site or at an external venue and cover a wide range of topics including health and safety, rodent or bird control, documentation, and service delivery. This approach ensures that training is practical, relevant, and directly linked to the needs of the business.
Accredited Members also take part in a Partnership Standards Review , previously known as the audit. This review is supportive rather than punitive, offering a collaborative assessment of a business’s policies, procedures, and practices. The aim is to help members meet and maintain high standards, while also identifying opportunities for improvement. This sets Accredited Members apart as businesses that are committed to excellence and continuous professional development. To complement this, the NPTA Technical Team provides dedicated mentoring throughout the year, working with companies to strengthen compliance, refine documentation, and improve pest control strategies. Accredited Members are also given enhanced visibility within the NPTA’s communications and receive priority placement in the member directory, enabling them to stand out in a competitive marketplace. The use of an exclusive Accredited Member logo further reinforces their credibility and professionalism.
Understanding the difference
While both levels of membership provide access to core benefits such as technical support, On The Road days, webinars, CRRU training, mentoring, and the WRM health and safety platform, the Accredited Membership offers additional layers of structured support. These include annual training days tailored to the business, the Partnership Standards Review, enhanced CPD tracking, priority directory visibility, and exclusive branding.
In simple terms, Servicing Membership offers everything a business needs to operate safely, confidently, and compliantly. Accredited Membership builds on this foundation by supporting organisational growth, developing staff capability, and demonstrating a formal commitment to quality and professionalism.
A partner for every Pest Control Journey
Regardless of which membership option a business chooses, joining the NPTA means becoming part of a community shaped by shared values and a commitment to raising industry standards. From sole traders to national providers, members benefit from expertise, representation, and practical support that empowers them to deliver excellent service and run successful pest control businesses.
The NPTA remains dedicated to championing our industry, supporting our members, and ensuring they have everything they need to succeed, today and in the years ahead.
